Tom is an active volunteer leader for the Boy Scouts of America at the troop and council levels, is a recipient of the Silver Beaver award for distinguished service, and has weathered many summer camps, week-long canoe journeys, and, in 2017, a Philmont wilderness trek. By virtue of being married to Karen, the valedictorian of their college class, Tom and Karen successfully raised three brilliant (and emancipated) children who earned seven college degrees among them.
