Louisville Business First has recognized MPM Managing Director Mindy Sunderland as a 2020 Business Women First Enterprising Women honoree. Mindy is a shareholder and managing director of Morgan Pottinger McGarvey’s Louisville office. She is the first female to lead the firm since its founding in 1974, and the first woman to serve on the firm’s executive committee. Louisville Business First previously recognized Mindy as a 40 Under 40 recipient, one of 20 People to Know in Law and a Bizwomen mentor.
Mindy’s practice focuses on commercial real estate and foreclosure, asset based lending, banking and finance, and Uniform Commercial Code matters. She has a number of published works and often presents on banking and finance law. Mindy has held a Super Lawyer designation since 2015 and was recognized as a “Kentucky Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2013-2014. In addition to being managing director and a shareholder, she has led the firm’s marketing efforts since 2009.
Mindy is director of the Kentucky Bar Foundation Board, a role she’s held since 2018 after joining the board in 2017. She previously served on the Kentucky Bar Foundation’s IOLTA Board of Trustees, chairing the board from 2017-2018, and serving as treasurer from 2013-2017.
Mindy is leading Morgan Pottinger McGarvey during a pivotal and exciting time in the firm’s 46-year history. The firm’s focus has expanded beyond real estate and banking and finance law to include personal injury, trust and estates, family, employment, tax and administrative law.
In addition to her success as a lawyer, Mindy is equally involved in the community. She is currently on the Family Scholar House Board of Trustees and chaired the organization’s Development Committee from 2013-2019. Mayor Greg Fisher appointed Mindy to the Eastwood Fire District Board of Trustees in 2012. She was elected chair soon after and served in that capacity until 2019. She is currently secretary for the Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS board. Mindy completed Leadership Kentucky, Leadership Louisville, Leadership Louisville’s Focus program and the Louisville Bar Association’s Leadership Academy.
Mindy is a graduate of Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky College of Law. She is a leader at Morgan Pottinger McGarvey and within the legal industry, and has shown a sincere dedication to making a positive difference in the community.
