MPM attorney John McGarvey was actively involved in a Kentucky case involving core principles of security interests under Article 9 of the UCC. John, assisted by attorney Kami Griffith, represented the position of the Kentucky Bankers Association and the Commercial Law Amicus Initiative as amici curiae to correct a Court of Appeals analysis. The Kentucky Supreme Court adopted wholeheartedly the position argued by MPM for the KBA, and the to be published opinion expressly references the arguments of the amici.
John is an appointed member of the Uniform Law Commission and the Chair of the UCC Committee. He has taught hundreds of seminars on legal issues involving financial institutions and other lenders. Best Lawyers in America® named him the 2022 “Lawyer of the Year” for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law in Louisville.
