Morgan Pottinger McGarvey is pleased to announce that Charlie Otten has been named a shareholder. Otten will take on additional responsibilities in expanding Morgan Pottinger McGarvey’s practice areas, including banking and finance law, real estate law and business law and litigation.
Otten’s banking law experience ranges from loan document negotiation to enforcement and collection, specifically negotiation of deposit account control agreements, financial restructuring and bankruptcy, and foreclosure. He represents financial institutions and public and private companies in real estate transactions across Kentucky and Indiana. Otten also represents private companies in business formation and contested litigation.
Otten is involved with several nonprofit organizations in Louisville. He serves on the Junior Achievement Young Professionals board and was board chair from 2018-2020. He is a leadership team member for Jefferson County Credit Abuse Resistance Education. He also participated in the Fund for the Arts NeXt class in 2019.
Otten is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Indiana and is admitted to practice in every federal district in each state. He has been recognized as a Kentucky Rising Star by Super Lawyers® for four consecutive years (2019-2022). He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining Morgan Pottinger McGarvey, Otten interned for the Honorable Leon W. Tucker of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and the Philadelphia City Solicitor.
