Morgan Pottinger McGarvey sponsored the annual Leadership Louisville Luncheon on Monday, August 26. The event convenes the region’s most influential leaders in business, government, nonprofit and civic engagement. Leadership Louisville partners with the Office of the Mayor to bring in a guest mayor from a major US city, to share challenges and solutions with Louisville’s civic leaders. This year’s event included a panel conversation with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, moderated by radio personality George Lindsey.
As the head of the energy capital of the world and the most diverse city in the nation, Mayor Turner has helped Houston tackle its greatest challenges through innovative solutions, an adaptive mindset and a performance-driven approach. Since taking office in January 2016, Mayor Turner has eliminated a $160 million budget shortfall in record time, led the city’s remarkable rebound from Hurricane Harvey, championed historic pension reform and expanded municipal investments in renewable energy.
